We Love Our Reading Buddies!

Everyother Friday, we get together with our Reading Buddies from Mrs. McNair's 3rd-grade class.
They read to us...
And we read to them...
And we all have fun!

Our Popsicle Party

Thank-you so much for your donations to the PTA Stallion Stampede. We exceeded our class goal and won a popsicle party!
They were so yummy!
So yummy we had to lick the wrapper!

Pumpkin Science

Who says science has to be boring? We sure had a lot of fun exploring pumpkins inside and out!

We explored the outsides of pumpkins and recorded our findings in our science journals...
And the we explored the insides...
Squishy...
Mushy...
Gooey...
FUN!
We counted the seeds...
There were a lot!
And then we made Jack-O-Lanterns!

Thank-you so much to all of the parents who came and helped with the ooey-gooey chaos!

Reading Under the Stars

Here are a few pictures from the Literacy Night Camp Out on October 21st (Yes--the same day as our field trip!) Young and old gathered under the stars to listen to camp stories and eat smores...

Here's Mr. Pratz reading in front of his trailer...
And Ms. Spitzer in her tent...
And a few of our friends enjoying the fun...

Let it Snow...Let it Snow...Let it Snow...

I don't know if you've heard or not...but it snowed today. We were right in the middle of math, and I heard a little voice say, "It's snowing!"--followed by a roar of screams! Needless to say, we did not finish math! We quickly bundled up and headed outside.

Although the pictures don't show it, it was coming down pretty good! It wasn't sticking to the ground--AT ALL--but that didn't stop them from making snow angels! Catching snowflakes on tongues was also a favorite activity! Unfortunately the snowmen and snowball fights of their dreams just didn't happen!

So here it is in pictures...Enjoy!

Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade

We read a book this week called I Know an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie by Alison Jackson (a very funny book!) The old lady ate SO much food on Thanksgiving, she turned into a parade balloon at the end. Most of the kids didn't know what the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade was, so I made a little video to show them. They absolutely love it!

When I was a little girl, my mother would let me watch the parade as she cooked our Thanksgiving feast. I remember the smell of the turkey roasting and the bustle in the kitchen as I watched the colorful balloons and waited for Santa. So if you want to keep your kids busy, or just have some free time on Thursday morning, definitely tune in for the fun.
The parade will be on NBC at 9 am! And here's our little video...
